“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” - Confucius

Harjot is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC and an educator in the Surrey School District. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree, Harjot started her career off as a teacher. She still works in the school system on a part-time basis, and has been an educator for over twelve years. Harjot received her Masters degree in Counselling and has been utilizing her skill set in the school system and in private practice. As a Learner Support Teacher, she has worked with children that have ADHD, autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, giftedness and learning disabilities. She also has extensive experience working with immigrants and refugees. Harjot’s journey has led her to work with children, youth, parents and families. Some areas she has worked in are: anxiety, grief, loss, self-esteem, parent-child relationships and parenting, social skills, friendship skills, learning disabilities, academic challenges, life transitions, career and education planning. Her passion lies in making a positive impact by helping others steer through life’s challenges. Harjot is deeply empathetic and provides a safe, non-judgmental space for her clients. She operates from a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed lens by acknowledging and respecting the unique background of each person. Being bicultural, she understands the challenges that can arise in navigating life from different perspectives. Harjot believes that many of the answers you seek are within yourself and together you can work on uncovering them.

In helping children, teens, and parents navigate personal growth and mental health challenges, she employs various therapeutic modalities to address unique needs, some of which include: child-centered play therapy, sand tray therapy, eye movement and desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness practices. She believes in being a life-long learner and continues to attend workshops and seminars to hone her skills. In her spare time, Harjot enjoys taking a stroll along the beach with her children and husband while indulging in a cup of chai. She enjoys cooking and writing poetry whenever she has some downtime. Harjot welcomes the opportunity to connect and deepen your wellness.
