David believes meaningful change begins with feeling understood, accepted, and safe enough to be yourself. He sees a trusting therapeutic relationship as the foundation for growth, where clients feel heard, respected, and valued. His approach is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect. He views counselling as an opportunity to come alongside people as they make sense of their experiences, understand what has shaped them, and discover strengths and possibilities that may have been overlooked.
David is completing his Master’s in Counselling Psychology and brings more than a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families as a Resource Teacher in the Langley School District. He also holds a Master’s in Special Education and has extensive experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and a range of learning, behavioural, and emotional needs.
David’s own career path has been anything but linear. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a Red Seal Journeyman in Metal Cladding. Moving from the trades to education, and now to counselling, has given him firsthand experience of changing direction and stepping into unfamiliar territory. These experiences have shaped his interest in helping people navigate transitions, better understand themselves, and find direction.
David believes clients are the experts on their own lives. He works collaboratively to explore experiences, recognize patterns that may no longer be helpful, and identify ways forward that fit each person’s values and goals. His role is to create a space where clients can develop greater self-understanding, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward a life that feels more authentic.
Outside of counselling and teaching, David enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, staying active, and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The sport keeps him curious, humble, and occasionally upside down. It is a good reminder that growth rarely happens without a little discomfort.
