Psychodiagnostic Assessments (mental health disorders) – age 6+
A psychodiagnostic assessment is a collaborative process between you, your child and the psychologist, that can help figure out specific areas of mental health or daily functioning that might be challenging for you or your child.
The assessment will focus on understanding mental health symptoms, emotional functioning and personality features in order to assist in the planning of appropriate treatments (including school accommodations, counselling or therapy). You or your child may receive a diagnosis (or multiple diagnoses) of mental health disorders through a psychodiagnostic assessment.
Psychodiagnostic assessments can be conducted completely virtually or in-person, based on your own personal preference.
The following types of disorders can be assessed during a psychodiagnostic assessment:
The process of a psychodiagnostic assessment includes the following:
The base fee for psychodiagnostic assessments is $2,368. This fee covers the assessment and diagnosis of any mental health disorders. If you would like a psychodiagnostic assessment (for mental health disorders) to be added onto another type of assessment (e.g., psychoeducational assessment for neurodevelopmental disorders), your assessment fee will be calculated by an hourly rate, covering testing for all types of symptoms. This will help keep your costs lower than seeking multiple different types of assessments.
The psychologist will discuss an individualized assessment plan with you in your first session, including estimated fees.
Receiving a clear mental health diagnosis can guide treatment recommendations and provide a sense of hope and understanding for the individual.
A psychodiagnostic assessment will help to identify the most effective treatment options based on the individual’s specific needs and mental health diagnoses.
The assessment process can provide individuals with a deeper understanding of their mental health and validate them in their feelings and symptoms.
